For Gordon Downie ~ R.I.P. Gordon Downie

A Canadian icon Gordon Downie has died and Canada is one nation in mourning for Gord  who made our country better with his thoughtfulness, his poetry, his love of his fellow man and his country and his courage. You inspired all of us thank you Gord. Let flights of angels sing you to your rest.
The people Gordon loved the most was his family and his band so to his beloved family and band I give my deepest sympathies.

Please think about donating to the Gordon Downie fund for BrainCancer

I was lucky enough to get tickets last year to his last concert in London Ontario read my comments and poem  here in that blog post

Those of who feel as if we know him though we never spoke to him this is what I think he’d say.

Do not cry for me
But look for me in mountain high
Streams cold and deep
Blue skies, majestic pine forests
Fields of yellow wheat
In beautiful meadows
Sea to sparkling sea
In cities big and small
In quiet places
Where I can touch the sky
Where man and woman can think
You will think of me
Read my voice
Play my music
Hear my voice and sing along
Smile and remember me
In love of country
In kindness to your fellow man or woman
Remember the wrongs
By speaking up to put them right
You honour me
And my essence goes on.

Tuesday Writings #16-Someone Will Believe

                       Someone Will Believe

Prompts: spurious, euphony, pandemic

Spurious claims
A pandemic in politics
Around the world
To those who wish to hide
Behind fabrications
Of false facts to base their claims
If they repeat enough

Someone will believe

Tuesday Writings-No.15- Do We Believe?

Do We Believe?

Prompts:assess, subconscious, destiny

Does the past assess?
Everything we do?
Or can we escape
The ties that bind
Twist and knot
Into our subconscious
Hiding in deepest corners
Life is fairer
To some then others
Now they tell us
It damages our DNA
Nonsense we say
We hold our destiny
Not scientists
But do we really?

Tuesday Writings#No 14- Politics is not business

Prompts this week: lexicon, farceur, redaction

Tuesday Writings#No 14- Politics is not business

Some say he's a farceur
Who uses the lexicon
Of his idea of big business
To run a country
But a country is not a business
It is people coming together
For common good and prosperity.
If you've run a company or two
Into bankruptcy not once
But many many times
And left people in the poor house
Redacting your past deeds
Calling them fake news
Should people actually trust
Anything you say?

Tuesday Writings -Luminance

Prompts this week: luminance, essential, capacity

His luminance is here for all to see
If they but look
He is kind sweet and loving
Has a sense of humour
That makes me laugh
He cares deeply for his children
He loves and looks after me
With tender loving care
I need him
More than he’ll ever know
Sometimes I just listen to him breathe
At night and know I am safe
For his capacity to encompass me
He is essential for my well being
For his love makes me
Happy and whole

Able to face anything

Tuesday's Writing #No 12- Free Press

Tuesday's Writing  #No 12-  Free Press
Prompts this week:  scribe, clandestine, toxic
Prompts this week:  scribe, rescind, toxic

Free Press
A scribe covering politics
Fights the toxic attitudes
That try to deflect actions
By declaring fake news
Even though true journalists
Have education and ethics
Clandestine meetings take place
Reporters are told it didn’t happen
The politicians still continue
To hound, deflect and deny
Truths with innuendo
Half-truths and outright lies
The truth will still come out
The people rely on the press
For the facts you see
And the free press
Shall be defended

Tuesday's Writing #No 10- What is right

Tuesday's Writing #No 10- What is right

Prompts this week: traumatized, witnessed, disturbing

Traumatized by the news
I witnessed the gaffes
Over and over of government
The disturbing prevalence of violence
Against fellow citizens
Wondering about humanity
Then I see good people
Chase away the wrong thinkers
Showing them what is acceptable
And I realize there are good people
In the world who stand up
For what is right
All can be right with the world

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-Tete's #No 9-Environment

Tantalizing Tuesday's Tete-Tete's #No 9-Environment
Prompts: geology, oceanography, gaffe

The earth is our home
Geology, oceanography tell us
We should prize environment
Over all else
Instead we make the gaffe
Of trusting others to actually
Look after the earth and keep us safe
People who seem to want
All the riches and no responsibility
To keep their home safe

Tuesday's Writing #No 8

Tuesday's Writing #No 8- Decency
Prompts: martyr, garble, impanel

In a big city
Sometimes homeless people
Feel like martyrs
Ignored, forgotten, hungry
Their lives’ message garbled
Wishing they could impanel
A jury to decide
They were worthy too

Of human decency.
